Welcome to Debra Sherman Landscape Design & Consulting
I have had a love for Nature and a Passion for Gardens for as long as I can remember. I grew up here in Southern California, and have spent my professional life working in the nursery and garden industry. I began designing gardens and landscapes for homeowners over twenty years ago, combining my degree in Fine Art with my hands-on experience in Horticulture.
I specialize in Waterwise and Sustainable Landscapes, designed for our Southern California Climate and Ecology. My work has included everything from large ranches to tiny gardens, and beachfront, mountain, inland valley, and desert locations. It is my goal to help homeowners create a garden that they will truly enjoy. Each garden is custom designed with consideration of the owner's taste and needs, it's location and environment, and functionality as well as beauty.
The projects I have designed include Horse Ranches, Orchards & Vineyards, Herb & Vegetable Gardens, Swimming Pools, Outdoor Kitchens & Dining Areas, Sport Courts & Play Areas, Ponds & Water Features, Bird & Butterfly Gardens, Gardens for Pets, Wildlife Habitats, Native Plant Gardens, Rain Gardens, Low Maintenance Gardens, and many others.
Our conceptual plans are detailed, to scale drawings that illustrate all of the hardscape features, and the trees, shrubs and plants for your garden. It includes a list of the botanical and common names, sizes, color, and quantity of all the plant material for your project. This plan provides you with what you need for your Homeowners Association (HOA),
Department of Water Resources (DWR) rebates, Turf Replacement Programs, Landscape Installation Contractors to install your new landscape, or for you to follow if you plan to do it yourself.
Sometimes what you need is some help to solve landscape problems, and don't need a drawing. I can help you with your questions, coach you on how to renovate your existing garden, how to make the best use of the space you have, and how to maintain it. I also can help you with a logical, step by step process to install your landscape and help you avoid costly mistakes.
